Raising Cain
January 12, 2006
I’m watching the documentary Raising Cain, about the trouble with American boys. It’s really good, and a number of the kids profiled are right here from my home town, Melrose, Massachusetts, so it has an extra poignancy.
The documentary is available on DVD. Of course, you could also read the book.

Hi Tony,
Thanks for adding your thoughts. I know the producer, Tug Yourgrau, and I know that was a goal of the project--fulfill the spirit of the book in a new medium. He has done some great work. See:

We happened upon it too last nite and really loved it. I thought the book was great, and was especially glad that they did not just attempt to put the book to video, but rather to go out and fulfill the spirit of the book using a different medium. Every schoolteacher should see this documentary...
