Bill Buckner is throwing out the first ball. I guess enough time has passed since you-know-when.

UPDATE: The Globe’s Amalie Benjamin has a nice article about the emotions of the day.

Yeah, I have to admit I felt a little choked up when I heard the news. I could vividly see my brother and I in my mind's eye...Sitting on the couch together at 423 Winthrop Street. 9 and 11 years old respectively, half-eaten english muffin pizzas hanging out of our mouths with tears streaming down our cheeks. We didn't even really understand what we were crying for...But the sadness for the Red Sox was so palpable...You could cut it with a butter knife.

Some moments in history I lived through which deserve ten times as much of my attention don't get half. Isn't it funny how we are?

Anyhow, I agree...it is what it is and Bill was an amazing player. How many of us have felt scorned when our employer chose to holler about one small mistake when we do so much good? Who can't understand how much anguish that can bring?
